HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I've had my convert done for a little over a year now but have a nagging issue. When accelerating even a little bit hard in 1st gear and some in 2nd the car surges- sometimes a lot. It doesn't occur at higher gears. I still have the stock transaxle mounting which I suspect. I'd very much appreciate any thoughts.
I did an advanced search but didn't find anything- maybe bad search terms.

a lot of this is likely tuning and maf placement. a little while ago another forum member had surging issues with his swap, and the end cause was turbulence in the air intake around the maf caused by his air filter placement in front of the rad.

Thanks- I'll focus there. The problem has been persistent but we moved and had a lot of things going that kept me from worrying about it a lot. I didn't suspect the intake because I'd seen one like it and the engine runs well (except for this problem). So, I just drove it with moderate acceleration when I had time to build miles and confidence. It's now time to solve the problem.

I unplugged the MAF and the problem went away! I also sent a note to the member who was kind enough to send me pics of his instl to see if he had similar issues or not. We did virtually the same routing. My intake has a 90 deg bend leading into the sensor which I know is not ideal but if it worked for him then I guess I’m down to replacing the sensor or tuning without it. Thanks again for focusing me on the right area!
