front strut / spring question

While trying to bleed the hydro boost system of air with the front wheels off the ground I noticed that while turning the steering wheel from side to side that the front spring would shudder in the seat while turning, is this something that is common or is there an issue or maintenance needed on my car ? It does have the adjustable Koni's on it, I have seen where you can add a roller bearing spring seat and that would defiantly help but I assume that there is something already there to compensate for this motion, the manual mentions a bearing but it doesn't seem to be working on mine ! Car is an 86 turbo, any help of ideas would be appreciated.

That’s known as coil bind and it’s an inherent problem with McPherson strut front suspensions and it puts the mechanical aspects of the steering in a bit of a strain. It’s hidden by the weight of the car. Real bearings between the lower spring seat and spring along with the real bearings in aftermarket camber adjusters are solutions to the bind.

It is possible that the thrust bearing that typically sits between the upper strut mount and upper spring perch (or spring top in some designs) could be either missing, worn, or in need of lubrication (typically a temp fix). Fixing that issue should allow both the top and the bottom of the spring to freely move with the strut when it turns from side to side.
