For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

So I'm going to go ahead and slide into my flame suit for this one, but I couldn't resist giving it a shot. Recently I took a swing at doing dual exhaust dumping out in front of the rear wheels. This is an obvious problem for a number of reasons. BUT, I only have $200 in the entire thing (minus headers), so I thought why not. I'll be starting her up for the first time in a few weeks, so once I get it on the street I'll know more. However as it sits now, it fits up rather nicely. Once the clamps are off and replaced with welds, I'll have around 4" of clearance. Maybe 3.5" once I get the suspension dialed in. Anyway, here's some pics, so have at it...

Collectors. I purchased a universal kit from Jegs that invluded everything but the mufflers.

It's dark, but so you can see how low it sits at eye level from the back.

Rear hanger lined up rather conveniently.

Front hanger. This wasn't completely tightened down at the time I took this pic. But the screw you see there fit right into an existing hole in the body. While it looks kinds goofy, there's enough tension on the rubber isolator to provide pull upward.

Lastly, my gf getting "excited" about a ride in the car. Yes, my head is much bigger than hers.

Thank you sir! But if my suspension was that squat I'd be in some trouble. The exhaust in your picture is pretty trick though. How does a set up like that even work? Can't wrap my head around where the piping runs to exit out the body like that. Regardless, it's pretty B-A!

I've done a lot of research on side exjaust because when I do my ls3 swap, that's what I want to run.  These are the two setups I'm considering with the broadfoot flares...

think "oval tubing" all the volume, less space.
NASCAR boom tube style, nice and flat.
love the "trans am road race side exhaust"
my personal '69 Boss 302 mustang has 4" Supertrapps on it eliminating the "muffler space" issue.

I dig the bolt on flares a lot. Pretty sweet. What I still don't understand is how they get the exhaust to exit out the body like in the second picture where it exits straight below the door handle. Have you found any research that shows how that went down?

Honestly, not sure. I've just looked for aesthetically pleasing setups that I want to copy and those are the two standouts for me. I found no routing info, just the pics.

the way it was done in the 60's was the floor was cut, and a half piece of tubing was welded in place, thereby allowing the true exhaust pipe to ride higher in the floor. just like a driveshaft tunnel. (except sized for an exhaust system)

A quick update on this. Now that my car is dyno'd and up 'n runnin', I've been shaking down the misc issues with the car and while ground clearance hasn't reared it's ugly head yet, exhaust fumes and resonance has.

Right now I still have to weld up the system since it's still clamped at this point, and I need some thicker gaskets at the headers. I'm hoping that fixes the exhaust smell in the car, but it could always just be because of the placement of the side pipes. The other issue is a loud, I mean loud, drone around 2500 rpm. Expended since I only have $30 Thrusher mufflers on there, but it still has to go. I'm hoping some Flowmaster 50's and 4" tubing ovaled out into some "boom tubes" will do the trick.

Anyway, just thought I'd update this for those parties interested. I'll post and update with pics when I get back from the exbuast shop.
