For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Hi Guys I have a pair of very well made aluminum brackets that will let you fit the bigger 13" Cayenne rotors and wildwood superlite calipers on your 87+ NA spindles (I have those as well).These are made by forum member Rob (xschop) ,very top notch quality and fit.

200$ for the adapters + rings
I also bought a set of 87 Na spindles/hubs off of Rob that I will be selling as well 140$ the pair.

Here are pictures taken by Rob of the adapters and the overall final set up.

i have combed all over the forum for threads relating to more info on these brackets with the advanced search and have a guess on why they are needed but haven't found a definitive answer.

Are these adapters blocks and centering rings only required when trying to go to a bigger size rotor?

The following link shows a purely bolt on application of the 944NA wilwood brake kit which requires no such blocks but that's probably cause it's made to go onto the smaller stock rotors?

My application is street only and not track so i am well ahead by beefing up the front brakes with this wilwood 944NA kit for my 88 944S conversion that has 16" stock wheels am i not (after doing 3/4" brake pedal modification for manual brakes)?

If i am amiss on some important details that require these adapter blocks let me know.

These brackets are machined to fit the 13" rotor .Therefore if used with the stock size rotor the caliper will not make effective contact with the smaller rotor. Most don't take in consideration the width of the smaller NA rotor compared to the turbo and in this case the cayenne. They are much more prone to warping especially with the greater force exerted on them from the larger calipers. You can also complete this larger/better set up for around the same price as that kit you linked.

Gutterboy,

I was using the smaller wilwoods with stock sized rotors on my old 968-powered 924S race car.  They were better than the NA calipers, but I ended up getting rid of them and putting on 968/951 calipers, which I thought worked better.  

For street purposes the smaller wilwoods may work but they are not for the track.

That Rennlist "Front" upgrade is good for the rears. The Wilwood Superlites use bigger/thicker pads in various types and those adapters DJ is selling mount them to a true 13" rotor (INEXPENSIVELY). Someone should snatch them up as I won't be making those anymore as they are axial/axial mounting. I'll be doing more axial/radial adapters from now on.

thanks for all of your insight so far

and a second thanks to xschop for amazing axles and the transaxle hanger mount.

which wilwood superlites are the right ones with these blocks? i just randomly looked at the wilwood site and there are a number of superlite 4 piston models. is it the narrow one or which one? at any rate where is the normal place to get the calipers from the wilwood site or somewhere else?

while these blocks that d.j. has are rare because you are making axial/radial type now and not axial/axial; what do either of these types refer to and what are the differences between this old type and your new type? advantages/disadvantages?

as a street car only is it still unanimously agreed that bigger discs, these blocks and superlites is a big must?

at a street application i am not even sure i need to change anything on the caliper/hub side of things just get the right MC, angled firewall mounting plate, firewall brace and the biasing valve.

please feel more than free to set me straight if i am still wandering from normal practice here.

sorry for the newbiness in the questions, hopefully it helps others too?

You will need the 4 piston superlite calipers with the 1.62 pistons if I remember correctly. There is also the 6 piston SL6 that comes with the same mounting dimensions but I am not sure how it would fair with the cayenne rotor.

Can we move the rest of these questions out from this FS thread from this point on.I think they would be best suited for the "brakes" section. Thank you
