HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

My car is setup as a track car and has master battery disconnects that I normally use when the car is sitting. The car requires a huge amount of cranking normally to start and I'm starting to think that it's the ECU/PCU losing its memory from the loss of power. I'm looking into wiring the ECU/PCU to the hot side bypassing the battery disconnect switches (not ideal or compliant with the race rules I know) so the ECU doesn't have to relearn every time.

Before I do that, I wanted to see if anyone else was having this problem or what other track cars are doing?

I do the same with my battery cutoff. It fires immediately even so but hunts for idle a bit as it relearns.

Thanks Rich! I'm starting to wonder if I've got a bigger problem then as the engine wants 20-30 sec of cranking before it fires. Not sure if the crank sensor is bad and it's running of the cam or what's driving that long startup time.

Had it up on my dyno last week and it really wasn't running well. Missing a cylinder and not making power (bad coil pack). While I was in the ODB2 data, I noticed that all the short/long term fuel trim was missing also - assuming because the computer is reset.

Mine did that when I had a very weak battery. Replaced the battery and instant start.

That's a great suggestion! I'm running a very small battery (<200 CCA) trying to keep the weight down so that might have something to do with it - was very happy to see 2,344lb on the scales! Will try stringing it to a stronger battery and see if changes my start-up behavior as I might have gone too small....
