HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

used RH headers, should I buy?
I got in contact with a man selling as set of RH ceramic coated headers. He doesn't know the details on the headers but I'm assuming they're the 1.75 inch primaries just like the standard RH headers. He says they have 700 miles on them. Is it would going with these headers? He wants $350 which seems like a decent price on a set of used headers.

That sounds like a great deal to me. I would buy them.

That's what I figured especially for the price. I just know people really detest RH so I wasn't sure if that meant these would be poor quality headers.

Sounds like a steal, I'd buy them. I know TonyG is making 465rwhp through those headers, so they must flow pretty well...

I got them. I was wondering what I should/can do about the little bit of rust appearing on them. It's not much at all but I am just curious.

Have them re coated, or just use them "as is"
Nothing is going to get rid of it unless you sand blast and re coat them, Painting will not fix/save them from rust!

Re: used RH headers, should I buy?
Exactly. I once bought a set from them back when I had the LT engine and the powder coat came off within a year. Not sure who they use to powdercoat their stuff but it sucks. Anyway, they'd have to be stripped and recoated. Being what they are, I'd just run them. Eventually you may want some real long tubes anyway.

Do you have any suggestions for who makes an adequate long tube version for an LS3 ?
Would the LS1 long tube headers offered by TPC fit ?
Thanks.

Well i had to build my own. But this was before TPC was offering long tube headers for our cars and there was no way I was paying over 1K for a set of mid-lengths from RH. Anyway, yes, the TPC headers are what you want. Otherwise theyre just to complex a design (lots of work) to fab up yourself or have a one-off-made.

Before you install the headers make sure they don't have any pin holes. I had one replaced by RH because of this problem.
Take header in closet or other completely dark place and plug up manifold holes with rags and then shine a flashlight into the header wrapped with a towel so all the light goes into the header. If you see a light show you have pin holes.
