HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

looking into buying well sorted 944 ls1 convsersion...where to look?
I have owned 2 944's in the past and want to upgrade to an already converted vehicle, because I don't want the hassle or unforeseen expenses of doing the conversion myself or at a shop. Can anyone tell me a good place to start looking?

948
I have a 948 for sale, 1988 with a LS1 from a C5 Corvette. SSP wiring harness, F body accesories, original paint. Uprated fuel pump. Turbo transmission with LSD, A/C, Griffin radiator, Mustang Hydroboost with proportioning valve. Cup 1 wheels, Falken tires. Crossmember lowered 3/4", Xschop's longer steering shaft with Borgeson joints, Xschops bump steer blocks that correct for steering rack position. Turn one power steering pump. Lexus LS430 front calipers/boxster rotors.
Constantine rebuilt torque tube. Rebuilt ball joints in lower A arms. Shorter/stiffer front springs.
Mazda RX7 rear calipers/951 rotors. Xschop uprated drive shafts with locking fasteners, Koni shocks all round. Strut brace, front roll bar braces. IFC Racing nose and tail pieces, ventilated nose panel. 948 Rear badge, Porsche/Corvette front badge. Fixed TPC Headlights.
Seats need recovering, currently have slip on covers. Has a Radio/CD player.
Momo steering wheel and boss included but not currently installed.
No damage or corrosion. Located in FL.
This car is awesome and will scare you if not careful.
No offers, no haggling $15,000......it will cost you that (just for parts) to do it properly.
Reason for sale, I have taken a one year contract and have to move, can't take the 948, better it's sold than sit and rot.

Nice Mike. Sounds like a sweet gig.
JCR150, you should definitely consider his car. He's put a lot of work into it.

I am located in RI, where are you located? I would need to figure out shipping costs as well and hiring indipendant inspection for me if it is very far from here, I don't have a lot of time to travel with my job.

Car is located in Vero Beach, FL
I am moving on the 11th of August, car goes into storage on the 10th.
If you are serious the deal must be done and paid for by the 10th.

Re: looking into buying well sorted 944 ls1 convsersion...where to look?
I've been debating off and on selling mine. At least, I debate it until the next time I drive it. However, for the right offer I'd probably sell it.
Mine's an '88 951 with a 2001 LS1. I've replaced almost all wearable parts on it, so mechanically it's great. It's also got new carpet (with dynamat underneath), a new dash, and was repainted a couple years ago. It also has:
On my todo list:
It's a blast to drive and I only drive it when there's no hint of rain. It's always garaged, even at work. It has no rust.
I'm in northern VA and I was thinking around 14K. Though maybe now I'm thinking 15K after seeing fliermike45's. I'm somewhat negotiable. (I have receipts for almost everything, and the total put in this car the past several years is well over twice that.)

Old engine shot. The coolant tank has been replaced with an NA one. The clutch MC has also been replaced with a Westwood one. The PS pump has been replaced with a Turn One.

- KW v3 coilovers with Dynatech strut brace.
- Volk TE-37 wheels, 18x8 front, 18x10 rear.
- ABSpowerbrake electric power brakes
- Weltmeister short shift kit.
- Turn One PS pump.
- Turbo trans with LSD and NA 5th.
- Cruise and AC.
- 8 way power seats.
- Momo steering wheel.
- Rear seat delete.
- NA gauges cause the turbo gauge wasn't needed anymore.
- Sunroof was converted from power to manual.
On my todo list:
- Install VSS. The wires have been run to the transaxle and are just waiting for the sensor to be installed, which I have. Was planning to do it sometime soon when it wasn't so damn hot.
- The driver's seat has one small tear on the seat.
- I have 10 speaker door panels I planned on installing one day. The car has normal door panels now but doesn't have a radio.
- The power door locks don't work. Never looked into why; I just use the key.

Other than Mike's reason.....why would anyone want to sell one of these beasts!? I have owned mine for far too long....without the conversion....and once its done I can't imagine selling it.

Re: looking into buying well sorted 944 ls1 convsersion...where to look?
I agree. Once I had the car completed..(are they every REALLY completed?) I would be hard pressed to sell it. I just picked up an 86 Turbo out of Ft.Worth Texas. It has a ton of go fast goodies as it sits. Will play with it as is for now while I collect parts for this swap. I still have another year or so over here in the Sandy Afghani Paradise...So when I am done.. I will do the install.

Re: looking into buying well sorted 944 ls1 convsersion...where to look?
Yea I'm parts collecting and doing what I can when I can. Got our first little due in a few weeks so getting everything prepped for her arrival has kept me pretty busy. But, I sure am having fun buying stuff here and there for my build. Heck by time I'm done the motor is gonna be too nasty to even drive daily...."too nasty" .....is there such a thing?? Nah
Get back safe man!

Scratch that... deal fell through. Guy sold it before I could get him the cash. Oh well. So.. still on the hunt for a good turbo car to build into an LS1 car.
