HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Here's a lap around Pacific Raceways in Auburn, WA. We start mid-way through turn 2 as I let my buddy Patrick by in his biturbo avant. I'm still breaking in the engine, 2nd session out, so I resist the temptation to chase after him. And we finish again in turn 2 when I stop for the red flag caused by a Miata going off driver's left at the exit of 5A. They're fine but notice the C4S that misses the flag, doesn't mind my hand up while stopping and blows on through. 911 drivers... Wink

Better but still too low. Oil temps are getting up to 180 F, which is the thermostat fully opening point, but not any higher. And this with the non-vented nose panel. I'm also noticing a max pressure of 55 PSI which is well under the 10 PSI / 1K RPM guideline. I read that guys see a 10 PSI pressure drop using these RX7 coolers. I think it's time to just rip it out and install a nice bar&plate aftermarket cooler.

Wow, that's low! I've never seen oil temps that low on the track. Course it's a hell of a lot hotter here with very thin air, but I think the coolest I've seen the oil was 220F. Most of the time it's around 230-240F with a max seen of almost 280F.

That's pretty low for max pressure. My car idles at around 50psi and jumps to 90 at WOT.

Okay thanks. New cooler is ordered. And I learned that the engine was tuned with an 85mm MAF which explains the large fuel trim values I'm currently seeing with the 75mm one. So I need to redo my intake too.

Pacific Raceways near Seattle Empty The Ridge

    Post  Rich L. Tue May 15, 2012 11:42 pm

Here's a lap around the newest Pacific NW track, The Ridge. My car's running much better with oil pressures over 80 PSI and temperatures over 200 F, it's much happier. The 85mm MAF brings the fuel trims into a lower range but the open differential is still making me "squeeze and ease" out of the slower corners. And I've still got the rear bar on soft making the car nave nice and easy to drive understeer.

Looks like a fun and technical track, love the down hill roller coaster just before the front straight.

Pacific Raceways near Seattle Empty Oregon Raceway Park

    Post  Rich L. Tue Jun 26, 2012 9:52 am

Here's a couple laps of at ORP last weekend chasing a buddy in his Nissan GTR. I stayed in touch but never did close the gap. The Bimmer was very quick, supercharged and on slicks.

The track is great. New a couple years ago, all that's paved is the paddock and the track itself. It's in north-central Oregon kind of near The Dalles. They've got their own fuel tank because the nearest station that has super is 30 miles away. The front straight isn't that long so you don't really get a break. And there are several blind brows and it takes a while to feel like you know what's coming next. Very fun and technical place.
