HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: Speed sensor
Michael,
I'm not quite there yet with my build so I can' t help you right now. However, there are plenty of others on the forum that can.
I suggest you be a bit more specific as to what you're looking for. IE and entire wiring diagram or specific connections at the transaxle or ECM.

Michael,
I'm checking with you to see what progress you've made in this area.
I've finally caught up and my crossmember and transmission are both installed. Now I'm preparing to connect my new drive axles and the TPC VSS reluctor ring.
Note for those unfamiliar: VSS is an acronym for Vehicle Speed Sensor. In this application, the VSS uses a stationary, permanent magnetic sensor (reluctor) mounted to the transmission housing. The sensor is triggered by the teeth on a "reluctor ring" which is a toothed ring or gear that rotates with axle shaft. The reluctor sensor provides vehicle speed information to the ECM similar to how the crankshaft and camshaft sensors provide position and engine speed information. Collectively, this information is the basis for tuning the ignition timing for maximum performance and overall drivability.

I have a 2-wire pigtail arriving soon to connect the reluctor sensor to my ECM, and I'm curious what guidance you may have received from the Forum experts???
Also...When you installed your reluctor ring, did you use the three (3) factory crescent washers (plates)? I'm thinking of NOT using these washers as I believe the reluctor ring will act as a substitute. Also, I won't be compromising the required embedment length of the flange bolts.
Thanks for any input you may have!!

Re: Speed sensor
Yes, replace the washers with the gear ring. I used a quarter as a spacer to set the space between with sensor and the gear ring.
