HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LS1 Intake with no hood latch
Here's the intake setup I made for the car that I am converting right now. It has a full 4" diameter inlet even though it is smashed down. It should flow great and has no restriction to the throttle body. I made a stand off piece for the throttle body to tilt it down just a bit for hood clearance and to make the tubes run a little straighter. I custom made a fiberglass tube to go from the air box to the throttle body. It is 4" at the throttle body and about equal to a 4 1/2" pipe ( even though it's smashed flat)at the air box.
I did have to remove a considerable amount of metal to get it in there, but we were installing hood pins anyway.

Oooh, very nice! Whose car is that? Looks like a fancy suspension setup too...

Re: LS1 Intake with no hood latch
yea definitely need something along those lines. I was thinking of a rectangular cone shape filter instead of just a plane cone and run it into that area too. That way it would have more breathing area for the filter.
Looks good though. Do you think there is any affect to the intake moving the TB like that?

Re: LS1 Intake with no hood latch
There should be no problem moving the TB forward. If anything, look at all the TB spacers that JEgs and Summit sell that boast HP gains............
The car is a forum member, He'll chime in if he wants everyone to know whats under his hood. Yes there is a lot of nice suspension work and other stuff done to the car before I got a hold of it. Now it has a nice powerful V8

Re: LS1 Intake with no hood latch
It looks to be in speed density mode, aka no maf.

Ah, i didn't even catch the TB spacer. That's a good idea!
No MAF would be a downside for me, but if it were mostly a track car (or a big cam) it doesn't matter. I make too many elevation changes to run without a MAF though.

Yep, me too. Especially since I live at 5000-6000 ft above sea level and within an hour of driving can be up to 11,000 feet or almost down to sea level...

Re: LS1 Intake with no hood latch
No MAF needed, this is a track car, but in at that we can make a street car run just fine, mine does......

Speed density tuning tends to freak out at altitude, ECU doesn't know what to do...

Re: LS1 Intake with no hood latch
that's my car. I'm very excited at the progress to date and cannot wait to retrieve it! It is an 86 turbo with Motons and Racer's Edge bushings and goodies front and rear. This is a track-only car that has been limited by the fussiness of the turbo engine eating exhaust valves every 3-6 months.

Yep, that's one of the reasons I did the swap too. Which tracks do you run?
