Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: 944 Hybrid Wide Body
Well you know as Modenas pointed out, it's only an LT1 motor, so I can't expect to much from it.
I figure I'll go for the 600 to 650 HP mark with low boost for now. The motor is a well built stroked 387ci. Heads have been worked over and it has a healthy cam in it. I'll be running E85 in it as well.

Update on the build
Well I have had a change in plans. I sold the LT1 to a guy that had to have it, so it's gone. Also the trans is gone as well as the Camaro rear end.......
I've changed everything, Now I've installed the complete rear suspension from a 2002 C5 Corvette as well as the torque tube. I have also order in a 6.0 from a 2006 pickup. It will be getting a cam, push rods and valve springs to help keep everything rotating smoothly. Plans are to use the twin turbos on it. should make a little power!
With the wide body panels the rear end fits under them perfect.

Admin, very nice install. Is that an auto trans? where did you mount the supports for the vette stock cross member. What are u using to replace the factory croos member that was cut out. I had Hanks Hot rod mandrel bend my cross member, fits like a glove. Nice to see some one else takin on this conversion. Do you think it is easier to use the vette mounts as aposed to converting the porsche running gear.If you could more pics please.

Love the idea of running the vette suspension. Through a sequential gear box in there and you would be golden

Did the torque tube fit in the tunnel without modification? I know the guy in Canada cut is apart and was widening it on that 78/79...
Very informative picture

Re: 944 Hybrid Wide Body
Rob, Rear axle ratio is 273 for now. Going to try to make the Optima battery face off in Hastings, NE.
Top speed type challenge...................
As far as the cross member, we are going to make it ourselves from 1 1/2" tubing. We are doing it tomorrow, It will be tied into the roll bar/cage.
The tunnel will be widened a little from the shifter hole back. Will post pictures as things get done.
