For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LS6 Heads Purchase and concerns
I just made a sweet purchase while looking at some parts.
Napa had a set of LS6 heads they had rebuilt with aftermarket parts, form comp they believe. The guy never came to pick them up. So I paid the machine fee of 450.00.
The heads are assembled accept the rocker assembly. So I am doing research on that. Can the LS1 rocker arms and rods work in the LS6 heads or do I need to purchase a set strictly for the LS6 Heads?

IIRC they are fine.....and push rods are fine as well.... but while you are at it, might as well install a new performance cam

Re: LS6 Heads Purchase and concerns
The local Machinist and myself are farely certain that we have the correct valve spring number for the LS6 heads. These are according to the closing presure we tested, and the measurement I got with a dail caliper. The open pressure maxed out his scale, which was 250.
The guy head them put in CompCam Valve Spring #26921

Coil Bind 1.040
Rate 408 Lbs/In.
Looks like the previous owner was shooting for a mild street upgrade. That should do nicely, now I have to determine the cam to shoot for in the upgrade.
I have done some research through the Comp cataloge and have made a couple ideas but Let me know what you think.

Re: LS6 Heads Purchase and concerns
Sounds like a good deal!
I've heard, on a very good authority (the guy has a book out on LS motors), that the best all-around upgrades they see are single-pattern cams like 224/224 .575/.575, 230/230, etc. If you just want top end, then there are some new offerings from Comp and the Magic Sticks are always winners...

Re: LS6 Heads Purchase and concerns
I figured with the Trans limits that we are run into running audi gearboxes that I could get a cam that was mid to top end power, that way the power would be softer on the gears at the gear change.
I'll check out the cam you listed.

Re: LS6 Heads Purchase and concerns
It's more aboutwhat you want to do with it. I picked a midrange cam because i'm interested in autocross. Drag racing is where you would want a top-end cam.
I doubt the transmission will live a whole lot longer with one cam over the other!

Re: LS6 Heads Purchase and concerns
I mainly want to run highway with a few trips to Hallet for the feel.
Really I am trying to build a nice looking body with the LS1 that cruises nicely and still ahs the power. Trying to move the enngine power up to mid range to top end so I can hit the gas at speed and fly.
Not building a stop light racer.
