HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

944 ls1 swap brakes and transaxle problems.. (Legal in Sweden)
Hi!
I live in Sweden and to make a ls1-swap road legal I need to change both the brake system and the gearbox. The problem is that I can't use parts from the model series, which means that I cant use 924, 951 or 968 brakes or transaxles.
I'm planning of using cayenne brake calipers and rotors. Is this the best or is there anything better?
And the hard part.. The gearbox.. I'm thinking about using the boxster transaxle. I could use Audi 01E gearbox since it coming from another model. Or is there an even better alternative? I want to make the swap as smooth as possible, so as easy as possible would be good..
Thanks for the help!
Andreas

from what i understand the boxster transaxle is an 01e.
i would use the audi 01e as thats now a proven swap. that or the corvette transaxle, but thats a lot of fab work.

Wonderful! I will start looking for a 01E gearbox!
I think that I will go for the ls430 calipers instead of cayenne, only need to see which hub to use, got n/a hubs and think I need the turbo ones.
Another question, I'm thinking of using a lt1 instead. Is there much difference in mounting between lt1 and ls1?

the problem i ran into with the ls430 calipers is the lack of pad selection for them. the only off the shelf "upgrade" pad for them is the ebc redstuff, and i found they didnt work well in my setup (i am manual brake). i ended up switching to carbotech xp-8 pads and it greatly improved braking performance, however being these are considered a "track only" pad you may not pass whatever inspections you have to go through.
i would recommend going with a porsche caliper so you have better off the shelf pad selections.
what lt1 engine are you looking at? gm has used the lt1 designation multiple times in the last 40 years. there is the gen 2 350 from 92-98, and the 2014+ gen 5 engine. either way, ls style mounts wont bolt to either of them, and the clutch and flywheel situation is different as well. id recommend against the 92-98 lt1, while they can make good power they are a pain to tune, they are around 100lbs heavier than an aluminum block ls, and the swap parts are not as readily available anymore.

This is why I hang out in forums like this! This information is hard to find elsewhere!
Then there will be Porsche calipers. As you say I’m not gonna get passed the inspection with racing pads...
And then I ditch the lt1. It is hard to find one here also, much easier with the ls1 It was the 92-98 versions I was looking at.
Thanks for the help!
