HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Awesome looking car. Great job on your build.
Thats what i was thinking with the bolt ons, at least 350, but 300 is good and he did advise me of the driveability of it and i leaned towards that. I am just so happy that its running. i can at least enjoy it and go to cars and coffee or small car meets and show it.
currently it's the only porsche 944turbo/ ls1 swap herein el paso, which makes it quite unique and a good conversation piece.
soon I'll be working on the AC and enjoy it too in the summer.

The same basic engine with a Lingenfelter cam and LS1 intake made 400whp in one of my 944 builds. It also had the longtube Kooks headers and full 3" exhaust. Was a pretty aggressive tune we did. But still safe and very drivable.

re tune?
well, i am thinking of a retune and push it a bit. just thinking of how it would affect the driveabilty of it. i mean i would like to use it frequently.
has anyone had any issues with theirs?
thanks

Every one of these I have built are street driven. Some daily. No driving issues at all.

efi is not like a carb and distributor, where setting the car up aggressively may create some driveability problems. with efi you have individual control over entire maps, you dont need to compromise driveability and idle characteristics to make optimal power with your engine combo. yes, if you do something mechanical like a massive cam you may not be able to make that drive and idle nicely.
honestly it sounds like a lazy tuner, just not wanting to work to get the tune optimised.

Thanks, Sharkey,
I suspect the same with the tuner not optimizing my setup. I'll make the calls and see if they will fix my idle issue and extract more power, without charging again.

Re: 86 Porsche 944T LS1 swap begins
I suggest investing in HP Tuners. The cost of the program/hardware basically equals one tunning session with a "pro". Most are lazy as hell and just set you up with a MAF only tune and send you out the door. You can learn how to dial in MAF yourself in an afternoon off a YouTube video.
MAF is fine for power, but to get good driveability, fuel ecconomy etc you need to tune VE tables as well. That takes time and bit of driving/data logging. Only once you get your fuelling sorted (MAF/VE or speed density) can you tune idle, PE, timing etc properly.
