Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Audi 1.8 Builds
Recently I got turned on to the Audi 1.8 conversion. Why? well a couple of reasons, first the availability of the engine, aftermarket support, and the HP they make. Second is the weight savings - wow! HP and less weight = fast. If you think yea right, well look at this thread:

So my question is who has done one? Which conversion parts did you use, meaning which engine code, bell housing, flywheel, clutch, mounts and ECU where used? I would assume some of the Audi parts are re-purposes, but how? I did see this post from a person in the UK, but what about here in the US?

And please, I am not debating "why" to do it, just who has, what was the process, parts, and concerns etc, maybe some links to help us lost souls.
Thanks

Re: Audi 1.8 Builds
im not sure anyone on here has done any audi swap. there has been talk on here about various vw/audi engines, but i dont think its gone past that. i have seen a couple searching on google.
you are right on the weight thing though, my swap (2.2l ecotec) weights around 300 lbs fully dressed. i havent had a chance to scale the car yet, but i figure it should be around 50 lbs lighter on the nose. now these cars already have a 49% front 51% rear weight bias, so if your looking to build a car that handles exceptional, care needs to be taken to keep the weight balance in check.

Re: Audi 1.8 Builds
There have been several 1.8t swaps done. First I recall was about 7 years ago.
