HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Differences between Turbo Radiators
I read in a thread here that the early 951 radiator is different than the later years, and would not be sufficient for cooling an LS engine. What year 951 radiators were these? I wasn't able to find any more info online. I was going to buy an 86 turbo radiator for my swap project. Part number: 951.106.031.01

radiator
I ended up using an aluminum radiator listed on ebay, if you search 944 radiator it will pop up, GPI racing, 280 bucks, has all of the ports needed ( I have an 86 turbo / LS1 ) not sure what you are running. I had to space mine up 1 inch from the bottom shelf so I used a piece of material call 80/20 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] you can find some on ebay it gave me the height I needed to use the stock upper bumpers and provided a lower mounting point for the stock fans to mount. 80/20 makes for a very easy mounting system as it allows the use of "floating hardware" so it's very forgiving to fabrication "tolerances".

Did you run the aluminum radiator because the 86 turbo radiator was insufficient? Or just decided to run that from the beginning?

Re: Differences between Turbo Radiators
Seemed better at the time then starting with a radiator that had 90 k on it and the new one had a bit more cooling capacity. My car has heads, cam,and intake and so far on a 96 degree day sitting in traffic the highest temp I saw was 207 f. using the stock fans and I added redline water wetter just as a cheap "just in case". I have not added the a/c system yet so we will see how it does once the condenser is in front of the radiator....

Re: Differences between Turbo Radiators
I got mine through TPC. And it shipped from Superior Radiator in Mount Clemens, MI. When I talked to friends I know living up that way, they totally recommended Superior for any custom radiators. Also the flier that came with the radiator lists all the different LS swaps they supply. so I'd say they have plenty of experience. And I can say the radiator looks great (my car is almost done, so I don't know how it performs yet). My car started as an N/A with the original radiator, so I was swapping mine out for sure. Plus, I'm going with a crate LS3, so I wasn't then going to skimp on the radiator. Just my 3 cents.
