HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

968 ls1 motor mounts. Am I doing IT Wrong?
Hello.
I have a 968 With an camaro -02 ls1 engine.
Std 6speed gearbox.
Torquetube from 951
Corvette C5 2-piece bellhouse
Tpc adapterplate
Spec clutch and flywheel
Tpc motormounts
Tpc crossmember spacers.
moroso 20140 oilpan. (Modified)
Wien I installed the ls1 in the car, it seems that the oilpan is resting on the crossmember.
Is IT possible to mount the motormounts in different ways?
I will post pictures son
Regards Fredrik

Heres some pics..
I figure this bit cant be wrong.
The bent mount on the driverside to make clearence for the steering.

As you can see on the pic I mounted the four bolted mount on the driverside and the three bolt mount on the passengerside.

Mounts on engine are wrong. X-member mounts are fine.
If and where the pan makes contact with the X-member depends upon who modified the pan and to what specs.
Using pans from the same outlet, I have had to trim the gussets for the PS rack on one occasion. On another project, had zero clearance issues.

On the test fit when the pan hits the power steering mounts this is what needs to get done.

Check the arrows. The pan is from TPC. Being a solid mount the motor hardly rocks.

Are you sure? In the Photo bucket picture is sure looks like the engine side of the mounts are on the wrong sides of the engine.

I remember having to clearance the cross member for the oil pan and the headers. Get the engine into the car with the headers on and hooked up to the TT prior to any cutting of the cross member. The orientation of the engine changes when the TT is attached to the bellhousing.

Hey, wanted to chime in here on your oil pan questions.
1) It was mentioned above that the motor mounts are on the wrong side and they look to be. Here is a pic of the driver side motor mount and plate and it looks to contradict what you have in your pics. It looks to just the mounting plate.

2) on the oil pan fitment, you should also mount your steering rack to check for clearances too. Attached is a pic of the rack and you can see the pressure and return lines will need to be addressed. Just to be on the safe side, check this all out before you get it into the car. In looking at your pan, from the pictures it looks taller under the rack than I think it should be, it may just be the angle of the pic.

Re: 968 ls1 motor mounts. Am I doing IT Wrong?
Admin, you are totally right.
I have moved the motormounts after this picture was taken. They are now mounted like on your picture.
You are also correct that the oilpan looks a little bit to deep.
The bottom of the pan is hitting the steeringrack.
The oilpan is a moroso 20140 and modified it like many others seems to have done.
