HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Yeah, me too! The stock ABS system sucks, it doesn't help stop the car better, it's barely adequate at keeping the tires from flat spotting. I'm hoping this more modern system actually gives me the confidence to hammer the pedal and let it work everything out...

Just remember that threshold braking is much more efficient than ABS or cadence braking.

True, but having the confidence that you're not going to lock up helps alot...

And for those of us that drive on the street as well, very cheap effective insurance!

Re: Anyone have their Boxster ABS pump in and wired?
What are people doing for bleeding their brakes/ABS pump once in? Is there a way to manually force the pump to cycle? Either with a OBD2 tool or by jumping one of the wires?

Re: Anyone have their Boxster ABS pump in and wired?
So the pump is in and wired. However the plug I got from Oklahoma Foreign didn't have a pin out for the ABS light on the dash? Anyone else run into that? Right now I'm just going to go without the warning light...

Re: Anyone have their Boxster ABS pump in and wired?
Having some issues with this. The pump is continually cycling on/off. My shop seems to think it's because the pump I have is a CAN-BUS pump. I got a pump ending in "00" with the two row plug, isn't that the right one?
Do I have it wired wrong? How/what do I do to solve this?

Mine is 996.355.755.04. CAN bus didn't come in until PSM.

Hmmm, so apparently the plug I got from Oklahoma foreign was different . It didn't have a pin for the alternator trigger or the abs dash light. So neither were hooked up, pins 10 and 21. Think that's the issue?

Re: Anyone have their Boxster ABS pump in and wired?
Ok, still having issues with this. Got the right plug from Oklahoma Foreign and have it wired in. Getting the "antilock" light on my cluster to light up now. (After replacing a ton of cluster bulbs some previous douchebag owner removed)
Now the "antilock" warning light isn't going out and the ABS brakes aren't working. WTF!
My suspicion is the antilock brakes on the car never worked and the previous owner pulled the bulb to hide the fact they were broken.
Where do I start with trouble shooting this?

Have you, or anyone else for that matter, been able to read any OBDII codes from the ABS?

Nope, they don't seem to communicate with one another. (The ABS and the Camaro PCM)

One wire from the ABS goes directly to the OBDII port, I assumed that you could read codes from that?

We have that hooked up, but I don't think it's sending any data that HP Tuners can decipher.

Re: Anyone have their Boxster ABS pump in and wired?
I hooked that wire into a port but neither my Audi nor generic code readers can communicate with the abs computer. I believe it takes the Porsche specific software and that's prohibitively expensive.

I'll try to find out on Sunday, we have a DE planning meeting and one of the members has an independent Porsche shop.

Re: Anyone have their Boxster ABS pump in and wired?
Lifted from a Pelican thread
"No, Porsche does not require a special code reader to access OBD II codes, just about any make or model will get you into the “non proprietary” codes section in the DME, as required by Federal regulations. Unfortunately, to get at what Porsche has designated as “proprietary” (ABS, PSM, Airbags, etc.)you will need a PST II, PIWIS or Durametric system."

Re: Anyone have their Boxster ABS pump in and wired?
What's the specific part # of the boxster ABS pump that you guys have in and working in your cars? I'm beginning to think I have one for a traction control car, that's why it's not working...
Went through the thread, is everyone using the part # Rich posted? 996.355.755.04? They're cheap enough, $50 shipped from eBay vendors...

Re: Anyone have their Boxster ABS pump in and wired?
Thanks to Rich's help I've found the wire I need to tap to give an alternator signal. Unfortunately my alternator has a different plug so I can't use that painless plug that I bought, that Rich is using.
So, for the red wire with black stripe, do I need to give it a constant 12V signal from the alternator, or a switched 12V signal from the alternator?
TIA!
