For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Thanks to a healthy dose of polycarbonate and delrin suspension upgrades over the winter (not to mention thicker torsion bar), the car handles WAAYYYYY differently now. Even with the cold temps, I represented well taking 1st place in XP - and beating a couple of the Factory 5 Cobras that smoked me last season.

I STRONGLY recommend that anybody that performs this conversion check the insertion of the driveshaft into the pilot bearing. I chewed up a TT (along with broken bellhousing), because I didn't initially take the time to do it. Like the saying goes "an ounce of prevention . . . . ."

very nice! The wide torque band of these motors really lends itself to this. What cam are you using? Sounds like you were in 2nd & 3rd gears?

This is a bone stock '98 LS1. Hot Cam will during the off season - I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get it installed and tuned before the real season starts. As for gears, I wanted to grab 3rd gear, but not having power steering, I decided to run the course in 2nd. Running 285s on the front on a course like this is a real workout!

Have you done the rod bolts yet? My 98 LS1 motor lasted 20 minutes on track before throwing 2 rods. I found out the hard way about the weak 98 rod bolts Sad

No - would probably be one of the things that I would do when upgrading the cam. Thanks for the information on the weakness of the engine.
