HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

CEL wiring assistance please
So, Im getting close and Im working on the wiring. Could someone assist me on letting me know how to wire the CEL from the signal of the LS1 ecu.
I have an 88 turbo, and purchased my wiring from SSP. I have a wire labeled as "MIL" aka CEL, and was hoping fro some guidance on where to terminate this or how to terminate this if there is something different that I need to do.
TIA
Chris

A couple people attached it to a check engine light on the dash. If it isn't required for your state to have a check engine light you could take it off.

I'm using the CEL, it's nice to know if the GM computer is complaining about anything. Very easy to connect to to that light.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a connector on the passenger side that I can trigger or do I have to go directly to the gauge?

You could wire it to an LED mounted in one of the blank switch plates in front of the shifter.

Thanks, I could do that, but was hoping that I could use the porsche CEL itself. Its been a long time since I saw the cluster lit up. Is there a "CEL" or it uses the "!"?
Also, on the harness that I have, it has a "speedometer" wire labeled, is this used or is this strictly for LS1 gauge clusters?
Thanks for your answers

Re: CEL wiring assistance please
The speedometer wire must only be for the LS1 gauges. The only wire that comes off of the computer to the gauges is the tachometer. The MIL light wire can go to a blank spot on the gauge panel as 87-944S did. There is a picture of it somewhere. You could hook it up to the ! light but it would mess up the other warning lights as it is connected to all of them.

Re: CEL wiring assistance please
The 85.5 on dashes have a CEL in the lower right that Porsche didn't use. I don't remember which wire it was, I just traced the circuit to the connector the gauge cluster hooks up to, and soldered the MIL light wire from the GM computer. As Arthropraxis says, don't try and tie into the ! light, unless you have disconnected the ! from the rest of the Porsche circuits.
