HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Wiring Questions
I may be just stupid, but I can't find out how to wire up the Fuel pump relay. I know what wire goes to it (A7, Red connector, DK GRN/WHT wire), but I can't find out where to splice that wire into the Porsche harness.
Here is the wiring diagram from the haynes manual. It looks to me that I should splice it into the Gr/bl, R/Y, or R/bl wire, but what one. Any help is appreciated.
Edit: I have an early 944 with the 9 pin harness plug.

Re: Wiring Questions
When you turn on the key now, doesnt the fuel pump turn on? If youre not adding your own relay and if the DME is still in the car, I guess Im not sure why you have to tap into the stock 944 system. It should still work as normal.
The black wire at pin 3 of the relay is 15A fused 12V+ switched (Key On)
The red/black of pin 2 of the relay is to 12V+ battery
The red/black at pin 4 of the relay turns to black/green after a 16A fuse and then to the fuel pump
The bk/gn wire at pin 9 goes the DME
The re/bl at pin 8 goes to the tach and re/ye at pin 8 goes to the DME

I wasn't planning on keeping the DME in the car. What other things will I need to modify because the DME is out of the car?
Why does the re/bl coming off pin 8 go to the tach? Should I wire pin 8 to ground and pin 9 to switched 12V+? Why is that second circuit in there anyway? If the ignition is on the fuel pump will be on due to the power off pin 3, correct?
I'll go out and set the battery in and see what happens when I turn the key.

Re: Wiring Questions
All you need is two new relays. One for the fuel pump and one for 12v switch power. XSCHOP made a nice diagram... Follow this

Re: Wiring Questions
Alright, after a little bit of a break (and two Yammers later) I am back working on the Porsche. What size wire should I use for the power to the fuse buses (two red wires coming from the battery to the fuses)?
