HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I received my PCM with VSS deleted, I haven't got my car on the road yet and was planning add VSS.

Is anyone not running VSS? what is the affect of not running VSS?

Thanks !!

VSS - If using a non electronic trans, You should KEEP a vehicle speed sensor regardless of what transmission type you use. The PCM needs to know if vehicle is moving. Without the speed sensor, you can suffer from reduced fuel economy, reduced power, and idle problems. There are a few options for speed sensors on the transmissions with cable drive output. View this link at Dakota Digital website. I have used Dakota Digital SEN-4160 with good success. This is a 8000 pulse per mile sensor, that will allow cable speedometer hookup. I can program most any PCM to accept any # of speed pulses. (1996, 1997 Black Box Vortec PCM will not accept 8000 pulse input) Also check out www.jagsthatrun.com for other speed sensor options. (Must output a SINE wave signal, or A/C Voltage)

That's from lt1swap.com. It's a good thing that you want to add it back. There are easy kits that mount a wheel and sensor to the passenger side of the transaxle. Check with Eric (admin) here for more information or you could check out the Texas Performance Concepts link at the top of this site.

I actually have a 6 speed 968 transmission, I use a VDO sender with a pickup wheel on the drivers side axle, I'll use a 944 cam gear on the drivers side.
