HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Manual window conversion Empty Manual window conversion

Post  cfgioja Sun Feb 13, 2011 4:31 pm

Looking into swapping out my failing power windows to a manual regulator. I have both regulators out of a 924 and they appear to be very similar expect a slight difference in the plastic hubs that the window rail slides on.

I will be looking at swapping out on of the metal knobs that the plastic hub snaps to and putting on the smaller metal knob from the 944 regulator. This should solve the issue I am having during this swap. I will post pictures when finished.

It looks fairly straight forward from the last hour I have been tinkering on it.

Did you ever complete this? I was considering doing this as well, especially since the power window motors are slow anyway...

Still in the pro@ess, I did find out that u either have to switch the window rail the one the bottom of the window or swap a tab from the auto to the manual window regulator in order for the manual regulator to work with the auto rail.

Im interested in this as well!

The 20 plus year old window motors and relays are just too damn slow...

Or, it the a way to fix/improve the speed of the window motors? I already tried cleaning up the grounds....

Not sure, I just am trying to delete as much electrical nonsense as possible. I finally got my ar back rolling, so I can continue the conversion on the windows again, should be a simple solution once I swap the rail knobs from the early big knob that goes into its rail, to the later model smaller knob that just uses a small black spacer. I will take some pics.

About to go to a 944 grave yard in little rock. I hear they have a hundred or so cars out there. I will be looking for a 924 with the windows maybe I can just swap the inter window with the rails attached to make it easier to swap.

well i got the windows in after modifying the knob of the regulator with a bolt and washer to stay in the window rail. I have a problem with getting the window to lower completely and still have and alignment issue, i believe the window guides are busted.

All and all though its not to bad to be able to roll the windows up and down manually now.

Finally swapped to regulators and the only problem I have is the windows don't roll down all the way, there is about a w inch piece left sticking out. Any ideas?

ha! so thats what that random hole was. excellent... im thinking about doing the same with my windows. how is that graveyard? legit stuff? i might try to send my dad down there to pull some stuff for me, do they have non gutted interiors, turbo parts, etc?

yeah, new to the forum, the 944 DD is soon to be retired to full time project status, replaced by an E21 BMW for the gas and back seat. Porsche is already half gutted unwittingly, but id love to go the route you have with electrical BS done away with.
