HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Fog ligth switch
Looking to use an aftermarket switch for my fog lights. The original one is shot and am looking at options.
I was curious though, looking at the schematic and the plug itself, there are 6 wires going to it, well really 5 because one of them loops back into the other side of the plug. if this is a picture of the fog light switch in the schematic, why is there a wire going to the heating/ac control?
It looks like that that both sides of the switch run a one way diode to the ground, if that is the case what problems would it cause if I ran a switch on the wires red/grey, grey/white, and ground?
From what I see the power wires from the defogger and ac switch goes into the fog light switch, through a directional diode resistor then ground. So in turn the other switches are grounding through this switch, this is confusing.
Or am I completely reading it wrong?

What were they thinking?
So eiether I can over complicate their setup or just buy a regular switch.

Its not complicated....its a nice switch. Remember that those diodes are light emitting diodes. When you turn on the fog lights, the diodes light up for you to see that the switch is on. And, at the times you would be wanting to turn on the fog lights, that little feature comes in handy!
That looks like a Haynes manual. They arent showing them as LEDs.

Re: Fog ligth switch
I pulled the switch apart to find the reason it doesnt work and saw those diodes. I then remembered how diodes work like leds. thanks.
I am still confused then why the ac/heat control is on a diode in the switch. Does that light the backing of the switch up when you turn on the dash lights so you can see where its at in the dark? If that is the case it has nothing to do with the heating/ac switch or defogger switch, it just part of the interior light wiring.

Re: Fog ligth switch
You got it. I cant really remember but i think the switch is orange when off and then green when on...or something like that. Regardless, When the lights are switched on, one LED within the switch turns on. Then when the fog switch is turned on, the other LED turns on. But yeah, the circuit to illuminate the switches are all tied in to each other at the main light switch.
