HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Exhaust options?
Im looking at exhaust for my LT1 conversion im thinking of running the Patriot ceramic coated tight tuck headers(they have a 2 1/2 in. collector) but im looking for an exhaust that will still have a good v8 sound but more on the sportier side. I have been looking but having a hard time finding what i want. I have a 96 LT1 so i check magna flow just to see if i could get an idea but they all run duals and im not sure how much of a pain that would be to run on the 944. I know i ask alot of questions but i dont want to buy something im going to end up selling on ebay. If anyone knows of any video clip or audio of this sort of stuff that would be great.

Re: Exhaust options?
I used the pacesetter 96 vette headers and have dual 2.5" exhaust. So yes it fits and can be done.....

Re: Exhaust options?
- Sanderson Shorties
- Homemade down pipes, section cut mandrel bends with flex joints
- Flowmaster Y-pipe
- Magnaflow 3" cat
- Homemade mid-pipe
- Magnaflow muffler
- 4.5" Magnaflow tip
See my pics ==> [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The sound is very unique (people always say), not boomy and is not too loud when cruising.

Re: Exhaust options?
Hey 948, any chance you got a picture laying around of your exhaust setup?
I'm going to a local exhaust shop next month and I'm trying to see how you guys have your exhaust done.
Any and all pics from anyones setup will be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Exhaust options?
a buddy of mine has a 383 stroker LT1/4 with a huge cam, 1.6 rockers, dual 58mm intake and throttle body in a 944 turbo. He has RH headers (which he's had plenty of problems with) which run out to a single 4 inch pipe that runs all the way out...and good God it is hellacious!! So if you don't want to run duals all the way out, which i imagine could be difficult to do, you can just buy a big ass pipe and run it out!!

Re: Exhaust options?
I have dual 2.5" coming off of Sanderson headers all the way out. real easy to do. Sounds great too! in my opinion.
Re: Exhaust options?
i guess i really shouldn't talk about how hard it is, because i haven't built a dual setup myself...I bet it sounds really good, and originally that's what i wanted to do on my car, but i decided it would be a LOT easier for me, in my timeframe and budget to Y into a single 3 inch...if you want flow and simplicity you can do 4 inch...just giving more possibilities for the man!

Re: Exhaust options?
Yes, I ran two pipes right next to one another tight up against the factory location and ran that into a Dynamax crossover type muffler.

Flowmaster 40 series 2.5" dual in/2.5" dual out for a pretty damn good price. You can get an additional 30% off if you use the coupon code FLOWMAST at checkout. I HAVE verified this myself (Order Total: $67.19 + Free Shipping). You can get a pretty good deal on Flowmasters right now, and since a few of you are talking about maximizing the efficiency of your exhaust system, I figured this might help.

Re: Exhaust options?
What would be a mild to moderate sounding muffler. I guess what im asking is there a way to make the LT1 conversion sound like a sports car. I know there are V8s out there that do produce that sound. I want the low cost and power of the LT1 but would like the sound to match the car.
