For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LS 928 5speed project here
Hello friends,
Thank you for the great forum. I was recomended come to here from Rennlist forum.
I have 1982 982S 5-speed with burnt engine harness and engine what I have never seen running. So it is quite easy decision to go with LS.
few questions.. ( yes I saw the search button )
Does the weight ratio of the car suffer too much with all aluminium LS3 ?
How the stock 5 speed survive with C6 430 hp LS3 in street ?

LS928,
From what I can gather, your 928S V8 engine weighs in at 260 Kg (573 lbs.) according to the Porsche Manual. I presume that's complete with accessories.
CORRECTION: I thought 982 was a typo for "928." My bad! The 3.4L 982 Boxster engines weighs in at just under 400 pounds including the flywheel. (Someone actually weighed it!)
Below is what the LS1Tech guys have to say about the LS3 as of Feb 26, 2020
Length: 26.08 inches
Height: 28.89 inches
Width: 29.05 inches
Weight: 430 pounds (with accessories). GM 6.2-liter LS3 V8
As for the transaxle holding up under LSX HP, the conventional wisdom (for the 944 anyway) is to go with a turbo model transaxle, add a case reinforcement plate, never drop the clutch, and refrain from speed shifting. Under these conditions, 500 BHP is sustainable. Of course...every set up is a bit different and every driver is a bit different, so results will vary.
I'm sure a few more forum folks with more street & track experience in there 948's will chime in!
