HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Running the coolant lines
Hey all!
I’m almost done with my 5.3 swap and on to running the coolant lines. I was just curious what everyone has done too cobble together the coolant lines. I am also curious what people have done for running the fuel lines to the rails with the old 944 lines in place? Or ran all new lines to the rails?
Thanks in advance for any ideas!!
PS I am struggling with the clearance for the intake also ????

Re: Running the coolant lines
I went to the parts store, went into the back, and literally spent 30min measuring and "visualizing" the coolant lines I needed. Ended-up buying (6) different pre-bent coolant lines, cut them all up to fit into the car, then threw the remaining 75% in the spare parts bin, lol.
As for the throttle body clearance, good luck! I spent weeks working and re-working and re-re-working. Ended up with a Motion Raceworks low profile mechanical throttle body, and custom-cut intake tubes, and K&N filters.

Hope that helps? ... I also have 100+ videos on my youtube.

Re: Running the coolant lines
I see you have a cable throttle body, so I don't know if this will be useful for you, but with my DBW throttle, I flipped it upside down to gain more clearance. I still had to clearance the hood a bit to clear the top of the intake.
For coolant lines I did Like MotoRider - got access to the back of the parts store and browsed for what I thought might work. (It kinda did, eventually...) I also ordered a T for the expansion tank line from https://jagsthatrun.com/.

Re: Running the coolant lines
I ran a direct line from expansion tank to the custom radiator. Then i ran all four engine steam ports to the steam port on the expansion tank. Lot of work to route the steam ports...

Re: Running the coolant lines
Thanks for the response! Yeah I’ve been struggling with these damn lines for a while! I was also curious how everyone ran the fuel lines to the rails, seeing as how the OE lines for the 944 are globe fittings. Do you just run all new lines with AN fittings?

Re: Running the coolant lines
Yeah, i went the very hard route and ran a brand new pump, filter and Aeroquip PTFE stainless braided lines. But also my car was an off-road racecar. LOL. You'd be fine with just normal stainless braided lines.
