HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

1984 N/A 5th gear in a 1987 Turbo Transaxle
I have spent some time looking at old threads on the topic of 5th gear swaps in the Turbo transaxle to lower the RPMs at highway speeds and I didn't find concrete information on exactly what gears will interchange. I have a 1984 N/A transaxle that I can remove the 5th gear set from to install in my 1987 Turbo transaxle. Will the gear set from the '84 N/A fit correctly in my '87 Turbo transaxle? I just want to be sure. Thanks, Gil

I know the 85.5 and up NA 5th gear will fit the turbo trans. I'm pretty sure the early gears are the same.

Yes, the '84 5th gear set will fit the 951 gearbox. I did the exact same swap.

That's good news. I was thinking of replacing the synchros and freshening the transaxle while I had it apart. Does anyone know of a good source to get the parts?

got my AR transaxle with oil cooler complete from a low mileage car from Ian at 944online.com
