HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Introduction
Hello all, new guy here. I'm new here, but not new to cars and one off mechanical stuff. I have a 1965 Corvair that I converted to a mid engined small block Chevy using a Crown kit. The car is a well sorted out street car that also sees some occasional track time. I also have a C5 Corvette, I've had many other projects in the past. I just recently bought a 1964 Corvair that has had a small block Chevy installed midships, mated to a Porsche 944 Turbo 3 speed automatic. I was told it was done using a Kennedy adapter. First issue I need to fix is a starter that is suffering from poor engagement into the flexplate. I have no documentation on the car, the seller did not build the car, and so far I have had no luck tracking down the builder. I contacted Kennedy to hopefully get some info about the conversion, they told me they never made an adapter for a 944. They suggested I contact Renegade, which I did, they stated they don't make adapters for the older sbc, just the LS series of engines. So, I don't know what I have, I either have a homemade adapter, or an adapter that was modified for a 944. I sent Kennedy a picture of my starter, they were able to tell me it is a starter off a Toyota Celica, even gave me a GM part # for it. So, based on the mis information I've been given to date from the seller, I'm not even 100% sure what transmission I have. Any help indentifying it would be helpful.

Hi
I dealt With a company in the USA called XSchop that used to make adapters for the 944 and made me one for my Toyota 1uz fe ls400 engine conversion into my 944 but I recently tried to contact them to make another one but to no avail .... I think they might be closed for business ....As regards your gearbox it could be out of a Toyota supra if it’s a manual gearbox as they used to make adapters for the small block Chevy to Toyota supra gearbox ..... might explain the toil day starting motor ......
Regards peter from Ireland ....
