HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

82 924 with AUX Audi V8.
Hi all, I am currently working a Audi 4.2L Swap into my 924. Been quite interesting so far, but really fun.
I have my main thread build on Pelican forums, which I have added a link.

the car is at my Dads and I am in the Navy station 6 hours away from him, so I get to work on it when I go home. Enjoy all.

Update
I am breaking away from all stock gauges for my Audi 4.2L Swap in my 924. Main reason is I would like to try and make this car Legal in CA to actually drive around. So I am going to use an A8 cluster and, match everything up with the harness. also will have the OBD2 port set up, so I can read any codes and trouble shoot as much as possible. At first I wanted to stay stock gauges, but in the end, this will be very accurate.

Update
Modification of Harness from the 2001 A8 donor car underway, trimming it down to what is needed for my 924 Audi 4.2 Swap. leaves me with a lot of extra wiring for splicing if needed. Also the fuse block will be a nice update from the old ceramic fuses not to mention the wiring from the early 80s.

Re: 82 924 with AUX Audi V8.
I am enjoying your updates!
Are you thinking that you'll stuff the A8 cluster into the 924 dash and either modify the dash opening to fit the shape of the A8 cluster or, the other way - modify the cluster somehow to fit the shape of the 924 dash? Or... ?
I'll be facing these same questions in a while with my swap.

Thank you Sparkydog, been a lot of fun! I do plan to mod the 924 dash to fit the cluster, I do not have to remove much material from the dash itself for it to fit. Thankfully I have 3 dashes in total, so If i jack up one I have 2 more haha! I do not want to cut the cluster at all for fear of damaging it.
I really will help to have the dash out of the car to work on it, also I recommend having a spare available.

Thought Update for HVAC
Bit of a thought update, I have been working through ideas and ways to have functioning AC and Heating in my 924. If I leave the stock set up, I will only be able to run Heat with no AC. So my plan is to adapt a 85.5 HVAC interior unit into the cabin. I managed to get the whole interior unit for free, with wiring so if it done not end up working out, there is no lose at all, just possibly a more costly way of getting AC. reason for this change is I have to mod the firewall to keep the engine at a good location and set back in the engine bay, this mod took away the room for the stock AC unit that normally sits in the passenger foot well. Once I can work on my swap in Dec, I can get a lot more practical information.

Header set up
Got my Headers made and tacked up. the collectors will be shorter then they are now and have a v-band on the ends. Upstreams O2s will be right after the collector, then the down streams after the Cats.
I plan to have the headers Ceramic dipped as well.
