HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
How thick is the spacer/washers under your uprights? Looks like you used 2 thick washers, is that right? and do you think that instead of cutting into the oil pan that you could just grind away part of the cross member next to the steering rack?
Is that is the case, that means the motor mounts that I sell for the LT1 will work just as well for the LSx...
Thanks for the great info.....

Yeah! I guess I could just shave the crossmember steering rack mount and get away with it. Havent gotten that far just yet and am a little worried about two things before I do something like that: 1) how far will the engine sink after its weight is on the rubber mounts? 2) how strong will that steering rack mount be if I shaved it to clear. I really wish the xmember was steel...I could just cut and weld that rack mount.
The drivers side washers in there right now are just a bit less than 1/4" and the passengers side is just a bit over 1/8" thick. These were thrown in to get the xmember level (thus engine level) to the engine.
Greg, the angle is 60, so the opposite is 5.74, the adjacent is 3.31 and the hypotenuse is 6.625. Oh wait, you are taking measurements from the middle of the through bolt hole right? Oh well. Its looks better.

Yes, those mounts will work but they are too tall for an unmolested hood to close without jumping up and down on it. The driver's side oil pan has to be modded to clear the "LIGHTLY" trimmed driver's side steering boss on X-member.While the passenger's side oil pan doesn't have to be jacked with because you are barely getting 3/16" play before you start interfering with the oil pickup tube on that side, Meaning the passenger's side steering rack boss on the X-member takes the smackdown with the angle grinder. After setting the oil pan 1/4" away from the steering rack and at least 1/2" X-member spacer's, your hood should close without chopping out the hood ribbing.
Fastenal sells 2 3/4" diameter washers. I still haven't located any 3" ones off the shelf from anywhere yet....
