HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: renegade harness
Post a pic, BUT...
Orange = 12V (+)
Red = (? on the RH harness)
Do the red wires have terminals, or just bare wire?

Re: renegade harness
MAY go to the starter.
Nothing in the RH instructions...just the 9 & 14 pin plug terminals.
A wire trace would split the harness apart...I'll trace and document everything if you want to ship it to me. I'll also fix the other BS (bare wires w/ no terminals, etc.).
In other words, I can trace it easily...just need the harness to do so.
AND, it'll be CHEAP...
BTW, Painless uses their own wire colors, etc. also...

Re: renegade harness
ok! took your advice to heart, but you know if I'm ever going to get over my fear of wiring I'm going to need to figure it out .So I got the harness out of the car slapped it on the kitchen table and took my meter out and started checking. This is what I found.
1 red wire went to ignition module, and coil
1 red wire went to injectors
orange w/blk went to pcm
do both reds go to constant power ?
orange is obviously to constant 12v+ to hold memory, right?

Re: renegade harness
Well,
Congrats! You have lost your "wiring virginity"...
RED PCM PLUG / PIN 6
Injector #7 Control = (RED / BLK) B+ (12V+)
BLACK PCM PLUG / PIN 14
Dist. Ign. Feed = (RED) B+ (12V+)
BLACK PCM PLUG / PIN 30
PCM Ign. Feed = (PNK) B+ (12V+)
*TO IGN. SW.
BLACK PCM PLUG / PIN 31
PCM BATT. Feed = (ORN) B+ (12V+)
*TO BATT. +
In other words, yes...RED goes to BATT. 12v+.
The ORN / BLK should be grounded in the harness somewhere...it goes to the PNP (PARK NEUTRAL POSITION switch, which needs to be grounded to bypass the PNP switch (AT).

HUH!
You're giving me way to much credit !,everything you just wrote looks like chinese.
If I'm understanding this all three wires(2 reds ,orange/blk) go to the battery?

No...vundba wrote:HUH!

2 RED go to BATTERY +...The ORN/BLK should already be correct if it's not with the 2 reds...
(If ORN/BK goes to 12V+, that thing will NEVER start... )

PC Harness
Did you get the (RH) regular harness or the (PC) Pre-Crashed harness?

Re: renegade harness
what's a precrashed harness? or do you mean have I chucked it across the garage yet?, then yes!
from what I've found the one red wire to the coil goes to switched 12v,the other goes to constant on.And the orange/wblack is the pnp (park neutral position) wire but I don't think I hook it up unless I have an auto trans.
If anyone has any insight I will gladly listen .I bought a book on wiring and it's like reading another language. At this point I'm fit to be tied but my wife is'nt into it.LOL

Re: renegade harness
WTH would RH have 2 of the same color wires going to 2 diff. voltage sources?
(Orange / Black goes to ground)
(BUCKLE UP...BUCKLE UP)

Re: renegade harness
OK! got an answer from from Steve at RH ,He says that the one wire to the injectors is usually triggered by a pulsing ground?
He's a newer guy that seems to be pretty helpful, apparently after 6 years they have a different harness guy

Steve is the one that booted me from PHB...
"pulsing ground" comes from the PCM...
'sounds like an OOPS.
Maybe I'll call Steve and offer MY services. Couldn't hurt...
