HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LV3 is an all aluminum mini LS with DOD. I want one. The LS swap kit should bolt right up.

I would do the 6.2 if I had a 930 trans. I've been in a 6.0 948 locally and even the 951 trans is not good in 1st with that amount of torque. The 5.3 is max for me in 44/

I do it at least 50% of the time, works just fine.

It's fine. I can do it all day long. Tons of torque.

Hey so just to add on, I was thinking about doing a LFX swap in my 944. I hear it has a lot of the same bolt patters as the 3800. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the really late reply. I think the LFX is a great engine as well. In the 944, you would probably need a hood scoop/bump, but there are no headers to deal with. I will do another 944 swap and will try to find an LV3 engine out of a wrecked truck. From the pics, the log manifold on drivers side looks like the perfect exit spot to clear or be easy to mod past the steering shaft...and the hood will close.

That said, if anyone wants to do an LV3 V6 swap, I will work with them to get the adapter plate/pilot bearing adapters made, just let me know.

the lfx being a 60 degree v6 is going to be a tall engine. the integrated exhaust manifolds have they benefits for fitment, however kills any thoughts of improving performance with a pair of headers. power specs look pretty good, and im sure there is more left in the ecm with some tuning. if i were going to do something like that id wait for the twin turbo version, this one might be a little unforgiving with boost at 11.5:1. direct injection allows for higher static compression with boost, but not that high.

im kinda torn up on the lv3. looks like an ls with 2 cylinders missing. the old 4.3l was basicly an old school 350 with 2 holes cut off, and as good as the 350 was, the 4.3l was terrible. its going to be too tall to fit with that intake manifold, and there never will be a car version to bolt to it, so a hood bump is the only option. i dunno, i think there are better options than this engine, imo, the only good reason to swap it in is it would bolt up with the current ls swap stuff, im sure the ls swap mounts would even work.

Hood bump or not, this V6 is potent and clutch parts and replacement parts won't cost an arm and leg. The only unknown is the pilot bearing and crank end dimensions. The C5 bell housing bolts right up.

Post  577nitro Mon Feb 29, 2016 3:24 pm

Did this link die?? I am returning to 944s and want to put either the LLT or LFX into it. I previously had a Renegade kit for my LS. went well, sold it several years ago............Is anyone one making parts for this swap?
Thanks

GM's new V6 is finally out. Empty LFX 944

Post  ChrisCO Mon Sep 30, 2019 10:53 am

I'm also gearing up for a swap in my 86T... Been seriously considering an LFX, considering it's got 325hp, better weight distribution than the V8, and potential for boost (see recent Mallet & Lingenfelter S/C kits for Colorado/Canyon trucks).. Anyone know if there's any development potential for this?
