For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Finally went to the Dyno!!
Well, after 10 years, I finally got my car to the dyno, and it was quite the learning experience!!!
Despite high temps and humidity, I picked up an additional 40 HP at the wheels!!

looking at those graphs i bet after the tuning the power difference is the same as when you went from the stock engine to the ls. thats quite an increase, there must have been something very unhappy in the computer before.

This is a '98 LS1 that used the big, clunky 16238212 ECM. I performsed a Comp Camss upgrade over the winter to give me some better power for autocrossing After an unfortunate incident with HP Tuners that rendered my ECM useless, I quickly found out that replacements for that unit were like finding hen's teeth. I was forced into upgrading to the "Safari/411" ECM that were also in the '02 Corvette (needed the DBW support) and Yukon. After learning that all of the 411 wiring gotchas I finally got it running, but it didn't run right. This is something that I've wanted to do for some time, and see this as a first step in further upgrades.

Re: Finally went to the Dyno!!
did hp tuners have a flash fail and turned the ecm into a brick?
the 411 is a good ecm. helped with a friends swap on his 98 vortec 5.7 pickup. truck is nothing special, but it was amazing what swapping to the 411 and just some minor tweaking did to it.

I was bit by the RTT tuning feature. Thought it was a pretty cool feature and I tried using it, but it killed the ECM. Yeah, I would agree that the 411 is a really nice upgrade - more memory, features, faster processor....BUT - if you are upgrading from an older LS engine, you need a new pedal, TAC module, and need to rewire bank 2 coil packs for it to work.
