HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

A few more swap questions
Hey guys, thanks for the previous answers. I'm getting into the position where I need to know more!
1) Where did you put/mount the lt1 ecu/fuse block?
2) On the lt1 fuel fuel rail, there are two connections for fuel, big and small. What one is the feed and what one is the return. Is the 944 fuel return the larger diameter one?
3) Has anyone done the throttle body coolant bypass? How would that be setup on our cars?
4) On the 9 pin plug I am supposed to save, what side do I use? What other 944 wiring do I splice into and where? such as fan, fuel pump relay, etc...
I can't think of anything else at the moment but I'm sure I will have more soon...
Thanks for the help!!

Any idea what connector this is? It is on the passenger side of the engine bay and wasn't labeled on the harness...

What about this one? It is on the driver's side close to the injectors.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Also, what is this? do I need it?

What do I do with the trans plug?

Re: A few more swap questions
I almost forgot! What do I do about the VSS? Does the ECU need it? I have an '83 and my car has the cable driven speedo.
AAAAnd....the wiring harness has a fuel pump relay wired in it. Do I keep it and use that? Harness also has the "Fuel pump test" wire.
The harness also has a #1 and #2 fan relay wire...where do I connect these?
Air pump connector and relay, what do I do with these?

For the VSS, your speedometer has a hall sensor in it that was used for the MPG gauge. You can use that along with a converter from Dakota digital to convert it to the correct frequency. Their SGI-5 universal speedometer signal interface converts any signal from 2000 ppm to 250000 ppm (pulses per mile) up or down to what in necessary. The hall sensor in your speedometer gives you 4 pulses per tire revolution.
I am using the 944 fuel pump relay (DME) but have re-wired it to get power during start from the starter circuit and for run I have it connected through an oil pressure switch to Ign 12v.
For my radiator fans I am using a 944 turbo radiator switch to stage the fans (single fan and dual fan) and the 944 circuit to power it.
I don't have an AIR pump on mine.
So I am not going to use any of these features from the GM ECM.

Re: A few more swap questions
I used Xschop's diagram to wire the fuel pump that can be found here at the bottom of the page [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The VSS kit from Texas Performance Concepts works great.
The wiring to the fans from the LS harness were connected directly to the Porsche low and high speed wires coming from the fan speed control plug on the radiator.
My car is a late model so the fan control plug may be different than yours.

Re: A few more swap questions
I will definitely get the VSS kit from TPC then. I am also in the process of modifying my tach to read a v8 signal with help from another forum member.
So all I do for the fan wiring is connect the two wires to the sensor on my radiator?
And all I do for the fuel pump is splice the fuel pump signal wire into the porsche fuel pump relay?
Thanks for the help guys!!!!

Re: A few more swap questions
The high/lo fan relay wires from the GM ECM should splice into the Porsche coolant temperature switch wires going to the Porsche fan relay. GM Hi speed to the RT/WS colored wire labeled TF on the fan relay. The low speed GM would splice to BR/GE wire going to TS on the Porsche fan relay.
