For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

My 1990 944 S2 Cab has the 5 speed LSD option.
Will this work well with a ( hopefully ) LS6 swap ?
I see in threads they say " 951 turbo trans " ... are these one and the same ?
I know the 951 and the S2 share many parts , brakes for instance.
Also it has 95000 miles on it ( well maintained and seems to work well ) , is this a factor with a lot more torque in the V8 . Should I consider solid trans mounts , what is to be gained with these. Hope these are legitimate questions. Looking for insight so I can learn.

The tranny will work fine as long as you don't do any clutch dumps (i.e. drag racing). With that mileage you will be able to tell how well it was maintained once the swap is complete. Do you have the tranny number?

Do not use solid transmission mounts on a 944. There has to be a vibration damper between the tranny and the cross member to which it is mounted. Xschop sells an awesome tranny mount.

Thanks Mark and no I could not find the tranny # ... And i mean i had a mirror and flashlight wiped area and everthing.( car was up on jacks when I put on the Schnell short shift linkage ) kind of ticked me off because I know i was looking in the right spot per Clarks garage. All indications are it is the original Option code 220 factory Lsd as I did the " wheel spin " check described on rennlist and it checked out positive for Lsd. Just wondering if I gonna want a taller 5th gear put in while doing the Swap? Hate to get it all done then be unhappy with high revs at highway speeds. Should I consider having this looked into while car is apart ?

The S2 has very short gearing and with the V8 you'll really want the taller gearing of the 951 box. I had an S2 tranny in my car for a short time and it was a hoot as far as tire shredding goes, but otherwise it was a PITA.
