The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

craigslist detroit metro(conversion)
Look in the detroit metro craigslist under porsche or 944, someone listed one with the (SBC)motor in already but not running dec 17th. Not sure if it is forsale still and the price was on the cheap side.

RUN FOREST RUN
Looks like a project that you really need to start over on
Lets apply Rickanomicsto the situation.
84 944 with blown engine $500 to $800 on a great day
SBC kit if there is one used, $1000 tops considering you can get a new one on this forum for that, piece meal.
incomplete non running sbc maybe $500 if it has great internals and iron heads, and considering you can buy a decent LT1 for that price.
Bottom line in parts for a not running project car it may be worth $2000. I am just guessing given its age there are many parts that are worn out. I have bought many project cars in my life and generally find a project car unles you know the previous owner is more work than starting from scratch, unless of course it is a rare or unusual car. A 84 944 with a broke engine is not a rare car Don't get me wrong if the car has a documented kit and a documented engine build, the guy would be foolish not to take $2000 for it no matter what he has in it. Remember the last theory of Rickanomics, something is only worth what someone will pay, not what someone has in it.
If you want to know about LT1 headers ask in the LT1 forum
I personally hate the tire kickers wanting information, no offence intended.

Yeah, that car is not looking very good so far. Not saying it cant be transformed or finished in good fashion though.
The LT1/Gen 1 Headers are Sanderson CC90 and CC2 at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
They are also found at century performance on sale actually right now 220. They are a great fit and work nicely IF BOUGHT FROM SANDERSON OR CENTURY unmolested. I ran them on my LT conversion for years and now I run a set on our Jeep V8 conversion.
Sanderson AND century will part a set for you as well which is nice of them; giving you one CC2 and a CC90.
