HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

FS 5.3 LM7 944
I hate to do this, but my 948 is up for grabs, decided I want my PhD...
Here is my craigslist ad with pictures:

Additional info for my fellow 944hybrids members:
Many of you know my car as xschops that his build thread details. You can read what originally went into the vehicle here:

It has been my daily driver for the past year. All told I have somewhere around 6-7k miles since I’ve purchased. Odometer was not functional when purchased, I have since replaced the odometer gears.
I have made many upgrades and minor changes since I purchased (somewhat in order):
New hood pin supports, realigned hood, and replaced windshield which the hood cracked before realigning.
Removed spare tire well which had been partially cut open and replaced with new sheet steel floor pan, added soundproofing material
Swapped seats to lighter weight Corbeau seats that are race harness compatible
New exhaust gaskets at header and collectors, fixing small exhaust leaks, also added a tip to the exhaust to prevent exhaust buildup inside rear bumper
Swapped the LS430 front brake kit to 951 fronts to allow for 16 and 17” wheels-with new master cylinder braking power is within 5% of LS430 setup
New ¾” bore master cylinder to better balance brake bias w/dual MC setup
Full suspension swap:
Front-Yellow Konis with coilover kit, 450 lb/in springs with helper springs, turbo front swaybar, xschops RX7 control arms and bump steer kit, 951 calipers/rotors
Rear-30 mm torsion bars, yellow konis, turbo sway bar, RX7 calipers 951 rotors
Added back seat panel to cover exposed sheet metal and reduce road noise
Replaced torque tube with stock 87 unit
Replaced steering wheel and hub with a Grant wheel-much better than the momo knockoff
Resealed and added spoiler to rear hatch, surprising how much quieter highway driving is
Replaced xschops short-throw shifter kit with OEM, kit had worn and was vibrating/rattling
Replaced door handles with OEM Porsche script handles
Replaced Fuse Block due to faulty internal connections
The bad:
Dash is cracked
Could use new sunroof and door seals
Has a few minor dents one slightly worse on passenger rear fender, paint cracking along fiberglass rear bumper-all from before my purchase-to look 100% would need stripped and re-sprayed.
Radiator recently developed a slow leak when cold, if I find a local replacement I will replace in the coming weeks. Currently has 944 NA radiator.
PM for more details, I'm located in Detroit Metro

Thanks Lemming, my job is paying for PhD which is great but means it will be part time and take a while.

Re: FS 5.3 LM7 944
What is the difference between and LM7 and a LS1 or LS2? Are the weights comparable or is the LM7 about 80lbs. heavier like the LT V8's?
Great looking car too btw... Tempting...
PS - How did you remove your rear windshield wiper and what kind of metal plug did you use to fill the hole?
Thanks!!!

Re: FS 5.3 LM7 944
The lm7 is an iron block with aluminum heads while the ls1 is all aluminum. Not sure of the exact weight difference but it is heavier. Same mounting points though.
The rear wiper hole is essentially a ruber gasket on each side of the glass squeezed together by aluminum disks. It is watertight and has never given me any problems. When driving the rear glass stays fairly clear.

Re: FS 5.3 LM7 944
I just read your thread. I'm thinking I may have thrown the schnell shifter back on when I installed your new clutch. I was using Mike's shop/lift and we had 3-4 944's under construction at the time. Got a pic of it? I made few this past weekend with lighter alloy arm and I don't see how they could wear out for eons because of the Teflon-lined spherical bearing. Let me know. If it doesn't look like this, I'll send you one FOC.

If I didn't just buy a brand new car I'd be all over this.
If it doesn't sell by Christmas I'm on my way.

Re: FS 5.3 LM7 944
Thanks xschop, I'll send you a pm with picture when I get a chance this weekend, was definitely a different style shifter on there.
Outofhand, I've had three separate "sure" buyers lined up who fell through at the last minute so who knows, maybe I need to ask for a deposit when they commit to buying and I pull it off craigslist???
Cheers!

Re: FS 5.3 LM7 944
May be couple weeks because I plan to do a large run of them again.
So whoever buys the car I will send directly to.
There is a lot of custom stuff on this car. With hydroboost setup, the brakes would be a whole new ballgame and a lot has been done in that arena since I built the car.

Re: FS 5.3 LM7 944
Hey all, I ended up keeping the car through the summer and stored during the winter. I just posted the car back up for sale locally. Giving everyone here a chance as well, price reduced!
Asking $8,000 firm.
