HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Any LS swapped 944's for sale?
I found some old posts in this for sale section, but since they are all old, I figured I would ask today. I am looking for good deal on something with an LS motor to play with. Unfinished would be ok too, if it is something I could come out on when it's done. I am trying to find something to play with that I won't lose money on or have a hard time selling when I am bored with it.
Thanks

Unless you get one of these cars for considerably under market value, you're going to lose money on them, just like any other car.
While a swapped car is very cool, it appeals to a much smaller market and they certainly won't appreciate it value.

Exactly why it is better to buy one done or close to it, or incomplete. Starting from scratch is a money pit. I have done it many times. I doubt I would do that at this point. I am not that in love with it to get buried in one. I am looking at several options on a toy car and things with fuel injected V8's stuffed in them always seem to interest me I have done several Hybrids as this point. Integra CRX swap, B18 Frankenstein into a classic Mini, B18C into classic Mini, LT1 in a 90's Toyota 4X4, Carbed V8 into an 80's Toyota 4x4, CBR600 motor into a 250 Quadracers, L98 into a Jeep Cherokee, Small block ford into an MG. Some of these I did from scratch, some I bought others projects, a couple I corrected or finished for other people, a couple I bought running and driving and needing TLC. I have done a bunch of other custom cars, but they used their normal motors to start off. I always come out better buying someone elses sweat, just have others have done on me

If I could do it all over again, I would just do it myself. I paid 15k for what I thought was a solid car, and now I al pretty much re-doing everything. I'm 30k in and have about 10k to go before its what I want. But then again, it will kick the livin $#** out of whatever it comes up against.

My point is even though the sale price may be less than what the build cost is, you won't be able to sell the car for that when the time comes.
I also agree with Zeurotty, you never know how a car was built. I ended up having to redo quite a bit to my car recently. It's a solid performer now, but I wouldn't let it go for what any buyer would most likely be willing to pay for it.

Re: Any LS swapped 944's for sale?
I understand the point your trying to make, but it is not really true in all cases. If you buy a car such as this (an already swapped 944) that is done and the builder already took the hit, it will pretty much stay in that ball park for a good long time until the engine becomes obsolete because something newer is out and common (like LT1 vs LS1). The car itself is pretty much done depreciating at this point in the case of a 944. Condition will dictate price. So if someone builds one and then sells, it can roll on to a few buyers for about the that same price until the engine gets too outdated. The builder takes the hit unless he was careful and bought things second hand like swap kit and parts etc. You can build and break even if you have patience. I have bought swapped cars, done nothing and sold for a profit. You just have to have the cash in hand when someone is ready to get out of his headache quickly. Or..buy something that has most of the expense dumped into it on parts and just needs labor.
You can even drive used cars for free if your careful on how you buy them and don't keep them too long or if you buy them at the very bottom of the depreciation.
