I have a russian friend (now living in France) who noticed a picture of my license plate (PORVETT), and had this to say:

Porvett? = "Порвет" - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Meaning, sever or "will rip apart"

He said it's a russian verb and they use the exact term in describing performance cars. I explained to him it was just an abbreviation of Porvette, and he says he's now going to have to reconsider its origins Laughing

Anyways, the more you know Smile
