HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: New use for old hood hinges!
I need a friend that has machine tools and a good welder. I do the wrenching but I dont have all that stuff. Eric, I am going to move in next to you. LOL. Just got to convince my wife Texas is the pace to be.
I'm sure you are already on it, but now you just have to figure out how to make the struts woork for it too.
I went out and double checked my parts car and I never realised the hinge was that big.

struts are in the works. I have it working with the factory struts, but I don't like the way they look. Headed to McMaster Carr ---------------------------> now!
Re: New use for old hood hinges!

Re: New use for old hood hinges!
dont know if you got my pm, but I like your idea and am going to look at the 90s model corvettes to see the two rod hood brace they use on that car. its pretty simple and works for the whole front end to flip forward.

Re: New use for old hood hinges!
Just an update on the hood. Foe those that have hood clearance issue this just might be the trick. It's hard to see from the pictures but it has nearly the same slope / design as the Panamera , just a little taller. It gives me about 1 1/2" right at the throttle body. Heck it might even give those LS guy's room for the super charger. I have not decided if I am going to make this a complete one piece or make it separate hood and valance again. What do you think?

ya the pictures just don't do it justice, It's one of things you really have to see in person. Or maybe out side in the daylight and a nice shiny coat of paint and wheels and , and , and ,and

Re: New use for old hood hinges!
Please tell me its a fiberglass bulge grafted to the OE hood and feathered in? I really like how its 968ish in that it continues into the header. Id really be interested in that. My hood (still in factory gelcoat untouched from gtracing) is all fiberglass so it would relatively easy to graft one on. But, fabing the fiberglass hood to continue into the header would be a bit difficult as far as strength I think. But, I'd do it!
That would really help with a straight air intake/cleaner assembly!

Re: New use for old hood hinges!
Having seen it up close, it is Very nice. The pics do not do it justice, just like the wide body kit, the curves are feathered in and the front has a slight taper inward, hard to tell with the sanding and bondo work going on.
What I like is it is not an eye sore scoop you see on some car, it fits the body lines and has a subtle message. Plus lots of room under there.
My Vote is for a one piece hood and valence, removing the body line presents a clean longer hood visual, very eye catching and modern. IMO

Re: New use for old hood hinges!
I vote for the seperate header, as with my current intake setup I'd have to remove the entire hood to change my air filter...

Re: New use for old hood hinges!
But... With a one piece hood, eliminating the header would allow the aircleaner to be placed up front with easy access! Maybe it could even be further modified to have an opening like a vented badge panel (like AIR or Deutsch Nine) to get that extra airflow.
So I am clear, the hood would open in the normal fashion, correct? (lifting up at the front)
BTW, I did buy the Deutsch Nine vented badge panel (as they call it) and it is CRAP.

Re: New use for old hood hinges!
My air cleaner is mounted up front. It's where the factory intercooler is mounted.
