HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Hello,

I know this seems like a topic that is discussed a lot and from reading it seems like you can go as big as 18x10" on the front and rear. What do people think of a 17x10" wheel with 265/35/17 front and 17x11" wheel with 285/35/17 rear. I would like to get CCW's but would like to hear the cheaper options. It seems like buying other Porsche wheels over 9" wide gets VERY pricey and I want more rubber than a 9" wheel can hold. I'm not keen on the idea of 18" wheels either, I think that is getting too extreme especially considering I'm on the stiff side as far as the suspension is concerned. (440# front, 300# rear).

What would I have to do to make these fit? This is the first time that I have ever shopped around seriously for new wheels and tires, I have a good understanding of how the sizing works and what factors are considered when try to get them to not rub but looking at the following threads:

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/924-931-944-951-968-forum/92859-anyone-out-there-ever-run-265-40-17s-on-the-rear.html

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/924-931-944-951-968-forum/483296-new-wheels.html

I'm a little overwhelmed and not sure what to make of the whole situation. Some people seem to be saying that you couldn't even get a 255 up front while that one guys has 285's up front without any modifications at all. What sort of offset would be recommended? I would probably roll both the front and rear fenders, but don't want to put on a widebody kit yet.

Thanks for any help, I'm just a little confused and bewildered. If there are some better threads to be looking at let me know.

I think I can get a set of CCW's for you for around 2300 +ship (around 200 from Canada) with R888 rubber used for 4 hours. 255 fronts I think and 305 backs.

hmmm, that would be an awesome deal. I was thinking that finding some lightly used race equipment might be the best route to go. Would 305's fit in the rear with the proper offset, only rolled fender lips, and not a huge amount of camber? A 305 would be on like a 12" wide rim? and the 255 on a 9 or 9.5". I was thinking I might want to go a little squarer around the car than that? What do you guys think?

I'll fork out the cash for CCW's but I don't think I want to go as wide as 305 in the rear and I want wider than 255 in the front. Will my suggested combo fit in the stock body?
