HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Security System Empty Security System

Post  cfgioja Sun Feb 07, 2010 7:13 pm

So I picked up an 86 turbo, I tried to trun the key to check all the electrics and the alarm goes off. I have not been able to figure out how to keep it from going off. I tried putting a key in the alarm spot on the outside of the car, but the guy lost the orignal so this key doesn't fit into that one, or the actual lock is busted.

Any ideas on how to keep it off?

pull the black box next to the ecu that say's alarm on it. That will keep it from going off at least till you get a good key or by pass it.

You can bypass it short term. If you want the alarm to work with the ignition key there is an option. I think I found this on rennlist at some point. On the drivers side door jam take out the plastic vent, unscrew the collar around the lock for the alarm( the keyhole on the outside), pull the locking mechanism out, pry/hacksaw the endplate off so the cylinder will slide out, insert your key and try to turn it, remove the brass pins that don't allow the key to turn. Reassemble once the key works in the lock. Then unbypass and try to see if the alarm works. I am sure if you search you can get more clear directions.

Security System Alarm_10

So upon further investegation into the 86, I find this alarm box tied to a shock sensor, proximity sensor and a kill switch. I attempted the Factory Alarm bypass as stated in Clark's Garage, also I shut off the after market setup but the Horn sounds when sounds when I turn the key to on. I am going to again once I find a couple of connectors to use on the wire.

But It looks like I will be doing some old fashion wire diagram refrences to this jumble of wiring. Any ideas?

That's an old "CODE" (brand name) alarm, It's POS in every way. follow each wire and disconnect it. Get it all out. The 2 white wires(one has a red stripe) go to your starter wire , they will need to br connected together. I would follow them back to the factory wiring and remove as much aftermarket BS as possible. Looks like a piss pour install to start with. If the horn (or is it the siren from the code alarm) honks when you turn the key, make sure you a fully charged battery on the car. Low voltage will sometimes set everything of.

Thanks, I didnt even know what kind of alarm it was, they took all the stickers off.

I plan on taking it all out, I have to let it warm up first. From there I up to figure out something.

I am using a red top that I had hooked up in my other 944. By the time the swap is complete, The factory alarm is useless is it not?

If the factory alarm actually works then , no it's not useless. I have never seen one that did work though.

NO problem, I spent about 8 years of my life installing auto electronics. That brand of alarm was some of the very first ones, that I installed back in the day.
