HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Fuel pump upgrade
I have the RH LT1 conversion fitted and running fine. (89 turbo)
However It takes a while to start especially if the car has been stood for a week or two.
Has anyone found it necessary to upgrade their fuel pump (mine's still the original Porsche turbo unit) and what should the LT1 fuel rail pressure be? Also where do I fit a gauge to test the pressure?
Engine runs fine when started and produces 330bhp. I have the Omex 7 series engine management.
Thanks

Fuel Pump Specs
Q,
From what I've learned on this forum, your stock 944 turbo fuel pump should be more than adequate for your LT1 engine...unless for some reason it is underperforming.
I have the same pump and upon start-up after several weeks of sitting, the pump takes 3-5 seconds to pressurize the system. I first energize the system (key in run position) to get fuel pressure before cranking the engine... it starts almost instantly after that.
The pump specs according to Bosch are 25.89 GPH at 58 psi. I'm not familiar with your LT1 fuel rail so advice on placement of a fuel pressure gauge will have to come from someone else.
Below is a link to my fuel pump adventures...

Re: Fuel pump upgrade
The pump is probably fine, and is probably a bosch 044 which will be plenty for 300HP
The issue you're probably seeing is the check valve that is supposed to keep fuel pressure to the injectors is leaking. So after some time sitting, the pump needs to create enough pressure to the injectors before the engine starts. You can replace the check valve if you want or the whole pump

check fuel injectors
You might run and leak down test on the injectors. I one or more are leaking this can cause more problems
than a hard start.

Is the check valve seperate to the pump or part of it somehow?
Thanks
