HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Hey everyone! I just have a question about how everyone has their ls sitting in the engine bay. When I got my LM7 into the car, it seems like it sits really close to the front of the car and is causing issues with trying to fit the intake tubing because it would hit the hood latch. I was just curious if I may have done something wrong with the install because I’ve seen so many people’s swaps sit nice and close to the firewall. And gives you a lot of room to work with up front. Any advice would be really appreciated!

The 5.3 should fit nicely from what I've seen on the forum.

I trust you're not using the taller truck intake and that you have good motor mounts that are installed correctly. It's not hard to accidentally get things switched around.

No I am not using the truck intake. I’ll post a pic to show what I mean. I’m using the mounts from TPC. The hood closes fine, and everything hooked up nicely. I just don’t know why it sits so close to the front end. I might have to take a better pic to show the clearances.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Check out the informational post by Gutterboy where he documented the cold air intake fabrication he performed:

LM7 fitment in my ‘86 944 Empty my thread on cold air intake

Post  Gutterboy Sat May 27, 2023 5:35 pm

your throttle body being that close to the hood latch looks exactly the same as my 5.7L ls1 placement.

it's tight for everyone, the trick is getting the tight radius 90.

here's my thread on all the in's and out's of the cold air intake which i had found to be one of the least document'ed DIY's on the forum here with much interpretation and opinion on how to go about it. Take note of my final conclusions after the fact on the cold air intake build as a whole.

I will most likely end up re-buying the couplers and un-jb-weld'ing my IAT sensor to offset the mounting of that sensor on a 45 degree aluminum sleeve for two reasons:

1. if you don't put it in the middle the you don't have to notch a semi circle into each coupler, just simply a circle on the one which would look cleaner.
2. you could use a big t band hose clamp over the two couplers instead of having to use two to get around the fact the iat sensor is in the seam of the two couplers butting up.

if i had the foresight to do it this way it would look much less messy which is inevitably why i will be redoing it.

pics of how close throttle body is to hood latch are shown in the full write-up and you will have to cut your hood latch to make as much room for the tight 90 as possible but even then you will find it will indent it just a tiny bit. Normal from what i gather.

LM7 fitment in my ‘86 944 Empty Learned Something New!

After seeing how Gutterboy shared a link to a specific post, I did some hacking around and learned that right clicking on the title of a post gives you the option to copy the URL address so you can share it.  Cool
