HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

New Owner of someone else's start
Hi All,
New member here. I bought a project start from someone else and the maker of some of the conversion parts will not help with instructions. So I am here because this seems a merry bunch of go getters and otherwise communicative group
So far, I am tracking some bellhousing/cltuch/TBO potential issues that I may need moral support on. Potentially also need a 6spd conversion and I would rather send my money some where its appreciated if our resident expert is still pumping out parts.

Re: New Owner of someone else's start
Before I get too far down the "what does it have now path" here are some issues I am contending with:
- When they got the red car, it had the original 82 5pd LSD transmission
- They did need to replace the torque tube
- The motor was built and dyno run at 505 hp
SOOO one of my first contenders after I get the thing wired and running would be transmission choices. They set this car up as a racer buit I would set it up mostly as a street oriented car. I tend to lean towards a built auto for high horsepower but they spent a lot getting the shifter and torque tube set up.
Seems like the options are:
- Swap for a 86+ manual, would maybe be able to reuse the torque tube, axles, and shifter? ($4k??)
- Swap for a Z06 trans and modified torque tube??? ($4-6k???)
- Swap for built 928 4 sp Auto.... Do I need a new torque tube and axles again? Swap bellhousing and switch to torque converter?
Which transmission setup seems like to is the most power capable without going through crazy endeavors to make it work? The popular "other place vendors" want an arm and a leg for the conversion parts. I'm hoping our resident expert is still making parts. I hate to undue too many things that have been bought and installed by the previous owner... but the parts combo on it right now will destroy the transmission in a week.
Thx!

Re: New Owner of someone else's start
Torque is really the issue but i assume you have 400+ Lbft, so a change is needed.
I would go with a C5/6 transaxle; spares and aftermarket support are plentiful.
