HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Broken clutch disc
Pulled my clutch out due to issues I was having with shifting gears. Initially I thought it would be a bad HTOB but I found these cracks and chipped section on the clutch disc. The broken piece was loose inside of the pressure plate when I pulled it out, not sure if it just snapped off during removal or was stuck in there from before. There are also a couple of hairline cracks around some of the other springs, similar to where the broken section failed. Do you think this would prevent disengagement of the clutch? The pressure plate and HTOB look fine so I'm still trying to figure out what was causing the problem.

Re: Broken clutch disc
seen that many times in different cars. the piece that is broken off the hub ands up jamming between the clutch disc and the pressure plate (or if it were on the other side, the flywheel bolts and the disc) and because of it the clutch disc never stops turning. it acts like a bad htob, however the key difference would be that with this sort of failure the clutch pedal would feel fine. when the htob goes you end up with a spongy pedal, or lose the clutch pedal.

Yep, describes the symptoms pretty much spot on. I'm thinking I'll just get the LS7 clutch kit to replace this. Anyone have a source/part # for the conversion disc that works with the LS7 setup?
