For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Looks like I might be in a bidding war with a board member. Here is the link to the item [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] My ebay user name is “big_chato”. I have the 12551118 bell housing and I thought I could get this one for cheap and please my inner conversion hoarding.

Just remember you can get a brand new one for around $220 shipped. Also note the eBay one looks like it may be missing the lower cover.

I have a question....
What starter is everyone using with the two types of Bellhousing? I have the 1118 and according to the conversion shopping list I will need an MSD 5096 starter. Is there another choice for our conversions?

That is a good question, i have not got to that point but i would think there are a few options.

Just use the stock starter that matches the bell housing. No need for an over priced aftermarket one. I have never had any problems on the LS motors with stock starters turning them over, even on high compression builds.

any part number in particular? i hav the 1118 bellhousing and i am collecting parts to start my conversion and i don't want to buy something i don't need. that is why i come here to read here.

Just find out what your bell housing came off of and buy the year and model starter that matches it.
