For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Battery / ECU location
I need some opinions here. I'm trying to decide where to mount my ecu and this idea keeps popping back up. I want to get a dry cell battery see the link (http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc680series.htm) and mount this battery in the factory battery box with the ecu on top, or have the ecu in the battery box and put this battery in the front fender.

With the LT harness, IIRC, there is enough wire to put the PCM in the '44 passenger side footwell (factory location).

Re: Battery / ECU location
I put one of those batteries in the rear cowl of my custom 1100cc streetfighter......Awesome battery, the cranking power is amazing for that little joker and the last 2 winters didn't faze it sitting outside without being started.Any other battery would have been in file 13 by now.
I will stick my ECU in the factory spot for weather protection (when my harness arrives...hint...hint)

My car is a early 85 and the ecu was mounted under the sterring column. Anyone have pics of a late 944 of that area? I may have to mod it to put it in that location.

If you pull out the A/C unit on the early cars which is basically a self contained unit it frees up a lot of space over there on the passenger side under the dash and you can mount the computer there anyway. Everyone knows A/C i s just extra weight anyway .
It has been working out well for me.

My car is an '83, so I put my battery (x2) in the spare tire compartment. My ECU is now residing where the battery was.
