HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Which transmission would be the best?
Hello,
I have been told that the 944T tranny with an LSD is the best way to go when dropping a V8 powerplant into the 944 but I want to hear from people who have the LS setup in their 944. What has worked the best with the V8? Is it the 944T tranny w/LSD or are there other options out there? I had an idea about making enough space for a C5 tranny, bu of course there really isn't enough room. Any suggestions or ideas would be great.
Thank You,

Hello, but there is enough room for the C5, mine is sitting in place, and it is in a 924. Good luck.

Re: Which transmission would be the best?
Kevin, you've done a tremendous amount of cutting and fab work to get the C5 tranny to fit. It's awesome, but most people don't have the time, skill or $$ to make that happen.
OP, the Turbo tranny with lsd is fine, the only problem is it doesn't have a true overdrive highway gear like the C5 6th gear, so gas mileage on the freeway will suffer.

Re: Which transmission would be the best?
I'm not too worried about gas mileage since I have had the car for about 8-9 months, changed the timing belt, balance belt and rollers and am now just at the 1000 mile re-tension point. I just want the best setup that will be reliable and I will never have to worry about it. Also I am tired of my 944 n/a always wanting to be in the highest gear. While on base the majority of speed limits is 25 and my car idles and cruises at 25mpg in 5th gear. It just feels as though I am in too low of gear until I get it to 5th.

gbox transmissions
I saw some information on gbox being involved in some V8 midengine cars.
There is a 944GTRS car on their website. I wonder if they do any 944 transmission work or if one of the many other 911 transmissions could be adapted to a 944 setup?
